Default Trailering a cup

I'm in process of acquiring my first cup, a 997. I currently have an open trailer, but will likely get an enclosed at some point down the line. Until then, whats the best way to secure the car for transport? I had tie-down rings bolted to the chassis of my street-car-turned-race car, but I'm not sure that's feasible with the cup. Appreciate any insight.

Centerlock tie down nuts, they replace the regular center lock nuts and have loops on them that make it much easier. You'll find with the Cup, you cant get under the car the trailer to tie to the chassis.

I have an enclosed Trailex I used for my Cup cars for sale. Works great. I'm in the Wash DC area if you're interested.

Tie down rings as stated above work great. You can also use a strap through the wheel (mac's sells these). Both work well. If you bought a gen 1 and need the rings PM me. I think I have a set somewhere.

depend on your trailer set up, wheel rings may not work.

We have the travel rings for sale that are mentioned above.

We cross over the tie downs in the rear in an x pattern, but in the front we have E-Track on the outside edge of the trailer so that the straps go out, not in, so no damage to the front bumper when towing.

Thanks

Ed

How do you do that if the rings are on the centerlocks?

The rears. How do those straps get crossed if attached to the outside of the wheel at the centerlock?

we use the rings in a tpd 24 trailer.
I have installed L-Track on the outer sides of the box and just attach there.
never had issues towing from the bay area to Thill, Sears, and Laguna.
I figure if those rings can hold the car in a plane they are good enough for the road

I prefer using the rear subframe/suspension for tie down. Easy to do an X cross. And less stress on the wheel hubs/alignment etc.

I strap my cup down over the top of the tires. Everyone told me I wouldn't be able to get the straps over the rear tires, but so far I haven't been stranded. This is a superior method to transport rings or going through the wheel IMO as there is almost zero chance of your wheel alignment moving if you go over the tires. Not to mention the car doesn't move one bit. I have a punched floor on my open trailer to allow this method.

We go over the top of the tires. But now that we are discussing it, I am not sure why we just have not put down E-Track on the sides and done it the same way the front is. We have never had the front move side to side during transport, so I am not sure what the x is doing for us.

Thanks
Ed

Ken -

FWIW I use the Rennline tie downs for the front......provides an easy cross and easy access in an enclosed trailer. And I use axle straps around the rear subframe for the rears. Also provides an easy cross and everything stays nicely planted.
Glad to hear you're moving forward.
