Default Cup diff clutch plates

Guys...I'm looking to rebuild a GKN diff with gt3 cup plates.
i cost up 2002 'friction plates' 950.332.981.81 and they run about 480gbp here in the UK. Also listed are ' pressure parts for diff 40/60' ...so I assume these are rhe the main ramps.

I also cost up 996.332.981.9c 'friction disc set' from 2007 Cup at approx 600gbp. No pressure parts listed in for 07. Dealer tells me this number is superceded by a 997 number.

So long and short is if anyone knows what then first more affordable set gets .... full set of 8 discs and spacers?...and if they are compatible with all the g50 onwards type diffs.

Thanks

we have revised our clutch design twice since I first built your lsd. They are so much better we won’t even sell an 8 plate stack anymore it’s a waste of money to make you buy those extra clutches.

To the OP, Rickard is a GT dealer and ordered some parts just this morning. You should PM and order some clutches and share the freight.

They have been superseded to new setups several times. The latest I am aware of are 8 steel plate 200lb static preload setup. Quite aggressive. I would run it as a 6 plate and get it tuned for 100lb static as it will understeer less and the steel plates will still be quite durable. With the correct assortment and differential gap you can tune it to perform quite well.

Thanks for the replies.
Have taken it to bits and it has just one friction disc per side. The older carbon type .
I'm not sure these discs are same size as gt3
I've emailed Matt... I'll PM Rickard.
The diff had a break away torque of 25 to 28Nm

There is a big 5mm spacer on those 2 plate units. You just remove it and replace with an additional clutch and steel per side. I will look for your email. I am doing year end accounting tonight while streaming Daytona.

If it is the older 2 plate setup you may want to also check the ramp angles. Some of those were weird ratios like 80/20 versus the motorsport 60/40 that is more popular. Which may or may not be ideal for you. Or may actually just need to be tuned for those ramps if possible. Not a deal breaker, just something to consider.

I think you mean 20/100. There was never a 20/80 LSD. If it's a 993 LSD he most likely has 25/65. Keep in mind these are percentage lock up, and not ramp angles. The first number is locking on acceleration and the second number is locking on braking. They do NOT need to equal 100. It's what Porsche calls percentage of anti-slip effectiveness.
