All went good until into halfway to the race and the 3rd lap of my stint...the engine threw up a conrod. Perhaps it smelled the currywurst in Brunchen and wanted to peak out to see where that godly aroma was coming from... =(
Two lessons learnt here; Don't try to skimp on engine rebuild...we replaced everything else except for the block, the crank and the rods. Should've replaced the rods too. Now we get to replace the whole engine. Plan is to buy a factory new engine and just replace the pistons and cylinders with 3.5.
The other lesson to learn is allways carry some cash you on. A cold beer while waiting for the guys to come pick me up would've brought some comfort to the situation.

On a positive note, the car is crazy (scary) fast. And we were the class leader when the engine blew up. Now we have 2 weeks to find a new engine.

Might be able to help! I know a 3.6 out of a 2009 Cup only 150 km away from the ring.

I‘ll call the guy tomorrow to verify if he still has it.

Thanks!

We decided to buy a factory new engine, they were available from Porsche motorsport and our guy is picking it up today. Only need to replace the P&C to make it 3.5.
VLN2 is on like a donkey-kong!

Hi Juha,

i saw you getting towed off, engine failure sucks bigtime! We also encountered some problems: running out of gas twice in quali and the race (leakage from the filler cap) and ever increasing downshifts issues. We retired 20min from the end of the race with a torn driveshaft due to that issue.

On the positive side: the car is a blast to drive - we all had fun. Laptimes are good already, im pretty sure there is more to come...

See you VLN2, good luck with the engine!

Car was running really good. We had a really nice weekend until about 20mins from the checkered flag. I was doing the last stint, securing our class lead and trying to bring the car to the finish in one piece when this happened:
