Important Question: How much wine fits in a 987?
Having just sold my 993, I'm strongly contemplating a 987.2 for a primary car. I just need to find an S and Base to see if the HP difference is important to me.
Anyway, I woke up in a cold sweat last night realizing I don't know how many boxes (12x750 - upright and layflat) might fit in a Cayman?!? (I own a small winery and have to pickup wine from the warehouse occasionally). I recognize I'm not going to get as many in as I did in my Cayenne (or my Prius, for that matter), but I'm not sure if one fits!
Any Cayman owners transport wine in your car?
Thanks!
Don

Three Wheelin'
Not sure about wine cases but in my .1 I can carry a 6 person tent, camp chair, small suitcase, helmet and track gear, tool kit, small compressor, jack, air mattress and sleeping bag. It's like playing Tetris. It's amazing how much you can cram in.
The limitation on boxes is the rear lid. The slope doesn't really allow tall boxes to clear the deck lid.

I was amazed at the capacity when we went to Parade in Spokane, 3 suitcases in the frunk, 1 in the hatch, a large camera bag on the deck, & 2 sets of golf clubs...boxes of wine?, Ha!...child's play!

I've put two cases of chardonnay-sized cardboard boxes and 8-10 loose bottles of whiskey in the frunk. The passenger seat area will accommodate two chardonnay-sized boxes, three if you stack two in the seat (I wouldn't). Chardonnay-sized boxes will not fit in the rear compartment, so loose bottles laid in cut-down boxes would be the way to go. Keep in mind that both compartments, but especially the rear, can get warm to hot on a long run or during hot weather.

TLDR: At least 6 cases of wine, 2 people and overnight luggage
Took a trip to Sonoma in my 2009 Cayman S manual with a stop in Livermore over the sumer. The haul: 2 full cases in boxes in the frunk stacked on top of each other. On either side another case in those fabric bags roughly 2 wide and 6 deep. Frunk: 4 cases standing upright. Rear hatch: 2 soft luggage backs, 2 pairs of shoes and 2 cases in fabric tote bags lying down with the cargo net over the top. The one caution: the frunk isnt climate controlled and gets warm so i tossed a bag of ice in there when it was over 100 degrees out. My car is for sale if you are still looking
