YEAR AND MODEL DESIGNATIONS
Hi guys. Please help me out. Still pretty new to Cayennes. what are the year and model year designations.
For example: The 1996 911 is a type model 993. Years 1995 thru 1998 for the most part in the 911 line are type 993s. What are the year breakpoints and type for the Cayennes?
Thanks so much for answering an old mans question.

MY2015 cars are indeed already 958.2, because the .2 was introduced in July 2014. 957 did also not start from 2008, but from 2007. I own a 2007 957 TT . It seems thought that in the US that model year was skipped.

Correct. There was no 2007 Cayenne in the US market.

The refresh designation (e.g. 958.2) is, as far as I'm aware, just an enthusiast moniker to help determine when you are talking about pre and post refresh cars. The model specific parts will carry the same leading designation regardless of it being pre/post refresh or if the given part is compatible between the pre/post versions.
You also have to be careful which parts you base that on though as some will get shared across models. In our 996, for example, the (factory installed) wheels and steering wheel carry 993 part numbers. The current OEM cabin filter P/N is a 997 part.

As with all the Porsche lines, there are differences ROW -vs- US.
Since this is a worldwide audience on RL,... maybe you guys could re-work the listing above, and make it more thorough...
