U mean partial muffler bypass? I did it and love it on my v6. I posted pics somewhere. I also did it on my s2000 but that's another board.

so here we go:

it's a little bit of a "ghetto - mod" right now, as i didn't want to make it permanent (welding, etc. )

these are the flex tubes, $8 each at advance auto:
diameter:{1 7/8"} and 18" long
on the insert side, i cut it at every 120 degrees, to being able to bend them inwards a bit, that helped pushing it further into the other tube after a gap (they're slightly offset inside the muffler)

fist off: marking the exact position of the outlet pipes and the clamps:


then a 16 mm extended socket, to open the bolt on top:


a little bit of WD-40 will help to get it off:

here is a small steel tube sticking out, i think some kind of bypass/ equalizer or vacuum generating pipe. since the whole function of the muffler will be changed with this mod, i got rid of it anyhow, with a DREMEL tool and a small cutting disc. i tried to bend it but that didn't work, it's quite sturdy. it will have to be filed off completely, in order to being able to push the whole flex tube in:

you can see, at the end i gave it a little bit of an oval shape, to prevent further slipping into the muffler.
all it does is covering the perforated tubes. pretty simple.

Hmmm, so a muffler delete without removing the muffler, call it an internal muffler bypass. Pure genius. I just hope it doesn't rattle. I can't wait to hear how it sounds. (You need to confirm for us if you've done a cat bypass or if this is the only exhaust mod.)

There is so much about cars and trucks that is personal preference, and exhaust sound is certainly one of them.

My 06 CS has a muffler delete with medium resonators, all cats still in place. It was too raspy for my taste without the resonators, which we tried first. It's pretty loud, but no drone when driving and car guys dig it.

The affordability and ability to pull the bypass tubes out of your muffler and go back to stock is pretty cool.

It's working now, but I have to copy link-paste link in browser. However, it sounds great! I still have original exhaust, and I want to do mods for a really long time, but I',m always scared that it will be to laud. This sounds great, and it's great chance to test it and if I will not be satisfied with result, I can go back to stock whenever I want.
Please let as know, do you have any other mods on exhaust (cat bypass)? Do yo have any rattle?

no rattle and this is the only mod. thought about getting the cat delete, but $600 for 2 pipes is just not what i want to spend. on a turbo i might have done it.

so far this satisfies me completely.

I think it sounds great. It's very similar to, but a little more muffled than my delete. Again I will say: pure genius. Where did you get the idea?

I this aluminum flex pipe? How tight did it fit?

I believe I'll not get exact the same diameter as yours, coz I'll have to buy in metric dimension, so option will be a little bit bigger or a little bi smaller, and I would like to know what would be better.

Lined the muffler tunnel with pipe to prevent sound diffusion. Take apart a muffler sometime and it'll be obvious.

Nice thing about this mod is that if it's too loud for your tastes, then you can always poke a few holes in the bypass pipe to restore some more diffusion.

thanks! but it's far less genius, as i strolled around a german forum (pff.de) where they talked about this mod. ( not specifically in detail, just about some tube inserts) a shop even does it with welded -in tubes for ~300 Euros. i am too cheap for that and no one does it over here, shipping would have been way too high.

try it and enjoy it.

it's probably similar to what the french guy with the turbo in the video did, just without cutting and welding...
