Our local chapter of PCA is very welcoming to all Porsche owners. Heck, I've got a Cayenne and a 996 and I don't get any grief. Many people in our group drive 996s, Boxsters, 944s and even a 924 or two. We had a couple of 914s at our last event. It's all good.

I've been a PCA member since I got the P!G - but - reading both the national magazine, and the emails I get from PCA, and the local chapter newsletter, it's as if a Cayenne doesn't exist. It's never mentioned, never even damned with faint praise.
The one local member I know (who has one of the last air-cooled 911's) likes my M-Coupe much more then the Cayenne. He has suggested I bring it to the local PCA meets rather then the Cayenne. He thought people would be more interested in seeing it (well, it is about 1000% rarer then a P!G..)
So - I've never been to a PCA (national or local) event.

Heck, I like the M-coupe better than the Cayenne. If only the M-coupe had more seats, bigger storage capacity...

I don't think I've seen/heard a bad word about them that doesn't apply to the whole line up. I know I love mine as I was clocking between 28 and 30 MPG on our trip to and from FL last week with a cargo box on it's roof (unfortunately I have a hard headed wife that wouldn't listen and drug the overall average down because she wanted to go 10MPH faster , but that's not it's fault...).

i know what he means....i'm an air cooled guy and just bought a 996 and i love it...i took it in for servcie and Leith Porsche gave me an 08 Cayenne S AND HOLY ****!!!! I LOVE THAT THING!! that is one bad *** truck! i couldn't imagine the turbo! i really can't believe i llike it that much! i'm from an air cooled family and always kind of shunned the Cayenne, until i drove it!! it is PERFECT of my family! 2 kids...we can all pour into it with room to spare! i don't have to worry about the mountain roads, (to the cabin) rain, rough roads and constantly watching the road for manhole covers and roots, etc. it is definitely a porsche!

Sounds like a great move - be happy and don't worry about the Purists - you already got them all fired up with your "4-Door" Porsche in the first place, what's the big deal about adding one SUV to the fire!!!
