Official Pics from Cayenne's Website

Gee, I was wondering the opposite. Can I order the lady and delete option the Cayenne? In all seriousness, I hope Porsche prices this vehicle aggressively vis avis an X5. If not, my guess is they will sell initially and then taper way off... a cliff comes to mind.

I think it actually looks pretty nice, and is much closer to a wagon than an SUV. That is a good thing! These will sell, no doubt about it. I would probably stick with the Audi myself, but some people will have to have the Porsche nonetheless.

thanks, dwyg... It is impossible to be definitive based upon photos, but basically it appears nicely done w/ the "appropriate Porsche styling cues". View from the back is impressive, perhaps could have connected the taillights ala 911s, The "C" pillar seems a little weak to me, not much expression there, but I'll reserve judgement till I see one in 3D. The ride height is fine (can go up or down, suit to taste), the indent accent low on the sides makes the car appear "less tall", plus functions to keep the dirt off the side. Speaking of the side, there is no full side profile shot, hmmmm. The front looks quite "Porsche" (in the 996 idiom) but what about the MB 300SL-style hood lines on "101"? I like 'em, but on a Benz... Note subtle differences between 101 & 105...

I agree with a few other posts on the board. It's much closer to a wagon than an SUV which is fine by me. Definately looks to ride lower than the X5. I would say that above the beltline it looks like a Volvo(3rd pic down) but overall I actually like it.
I'll wait to see it in person but I don't really think this qualifies as an SUV but a highpowered wagaon. Calling it that wouldn't work for the marketing though I guess.

Oh my gawd, where are the headlight washers????
Seriously, speaking of styling analysis, notice that the front badge is below the hood. I saw a concept pic of a future 911 type and the badge was below the front trunk lid. In fact the hood styling looked retro 356 on this concept 911...so, maybe we're seeing a "big change" in badge location...where ARE those h'light washers?? <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

The wheels look they would be a royal PITA to clean brake dust out of the lines. What about a chrome tipped exhaust, oh I forgot this is Porsche so that will be an "option" or "Tequipment" from some more $$$.

I guess pricing would be important however we all know by now that Sports car prices compare like this;
Lambo - £150k +
Fez 360 - £100k +
Aston DB7 - £95k +
Porsche 911 - £55k +
Mercs SL - £50k +
BMW M3 or Z3M - £40k +
So a Porsche seems reasonably priced in the Sports Car world, certainly when the whole picture is considered - performance, reliability, image, residual value, practicality etc.
Clearly it should be priced higher than its immediate competition, ML & X5. In that context, the V6 Cayenne should start at £30k, V8 from £40k and the TT at £50k. In dollars I guess it would be V6 from $42.5k, V8 from $57k and TT from $70k.
If mass production units are to be pursued by PAG, then prices above will make sense.

My personal opinion at this stage is that it's pretty horrendous and I really can't see any sense in paying a premium over an X5 for one other than for snob-value reasons.
PS Everyone else I've spoken to here in the UK thinks likewise at this stage. I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen one on the road.

I think it looks silly, I was horrified when I saw these shots. Porsche should stick to sports cars. They are about 5 years late for the SUV market, and I think 80K+ SUV's are not the first choice in that market segment.
Poor choice for Porsche not to pull the plug on this project.
