The more I read these horror stories, the more I want to trade in the 2006 Cayenne S for a Ford X?

Default Had a flat, no TPM warning

Ran over ???, punctured a tire at 5:00 AM, as it slowly deflated to 0 over the next mile or so, no warning from the TPM. Something just isn't right. Any ideas?

Yup, my 2016 Cayenne with 19K miles is at the dealer for a new transfer case as I type this. A few other warranty items being repaired as well.

Long time Porsche owner: from 911, Spyder, GT4, Macan...this is the first Porsche I have had issues with. Hope this is not an ominous portent of things to come. This is wifey's car so I drive it infrequently. However, if it turns out to be unreliable it is out of here. She's had successive MDXs since 2003 and I bought her the Porsche, although she was partial to another MDX. Hope I don't have to eat it.

2006 CS Ti. Purchased with 119,xxx miles, now approx 136,xxx miles. Work done: starter, coolant reservoir, brake pads, coils (actually weren't needed), plugs (real cause of misfire code). Not bad for an 11 year old car.

Of course, if you DIY'ed these items, and I do not see any difficult ones on the list, the costs would be less than a third of the $14k. $850 to do the coolant tank??? 60 minutes of work, $85 for the part, $50 for coolant... I am sure the dealers kids are attending good schools with prices like that!

Default 06 Cayenne Base 6MT- Transfer Case fluid change report

I have been the happy owner of this 06 Cayenne Base with the rare manual transmission since I saw it at the Washington Auto Show in January 06. It's been a very reliable car, with very few repairs, just regular maintenance, oil changes, etc.
I put new coils in when one failed in 2012, and the dealer (in Northern Virginia) hit me for about $900, as I recall. Also needed a new battery approximately the same time, and the installation was around $100, as I recall.
I just this week completed changing the rear diff fluid (using Mobil 1 75/90), and today changed out the transfer case fluid (using D4 ATF).

I wanted to report that the car has sporadically been giving error messages about the 4 wheel drive system in the mini vehicle info display on start-up, over the last 6-7 months. The error generally disappeared if I toggled the 4 wheel drive selector switch in the console once or twice, so I figured I would wait until I needed a more substantial repair to have it looked at. (I live in Toledo, closest Porsche dealer is Ann Arbor, MI)

The old fluid was black, and thicker than the new D4 stuff, which is bright pink. It defintiely needed a change, after 12 years and 73,000 miles!!

After changing the fluid, I tried toggling the switch, and it immediately lit up with "low range on" and then "low range off" when toggled back. These lights had not been coming on for quite a while, so it appears that simply changing the fluid in the transfer case can cure a lot of 4 wheel drive issues!

I've also been dealing with an unknown/ not yet diagnosed thumping in the rear at 28-36 mph, generally only on hard acceleration. Too early to tell if the T/C fluid change will affect that issue. Love the forum, and thought I would post this to encourage anyone who hasn't changed T/C case fluid to give it a try. Only issue was removing fill plug, that took a bit of banging. But it is very accessible and once you get the plugs free, no problem. I used a suction pump, which makes any fluid change a lot easier and less messy. Regards, Dave
