Yep, these are made by Dorman. Cad or zinc plated steel. Use tgem with the aluminum crush washer not copper. 3/8 ratchet drive which is super strong and easy. Petza was spot on in why I chose these over aluminum. My bidget doesnt allow for the LN pieces although they are #1. You cant get all ham fisted and stupid or you could pull the threads riggt out the pan.

Got a part number, or some other way to buy it at O'Reilley's?

BTW, the reason that the stupid drain plugs strip so easily is that Porsche made them 8mm (0.315") and many 8mm Allen keys are actually 5/16 (0.312") which occasionally range down to 0.308". Make sure you have a good tool/good fit before trying to remove them. Both Snap-On and HF 8mm Allen keys measure 0.315" most others do not.

cheers,
c

That plug is a Dorman 65406. And if you are planning an oil change, WallyWorld (WalMart) has 5 Qt. jugs of Mobil1 0w40 for $22.88. That's a deal. I only wish they had a 10w50 in the hot-as-blazes Sacramento area. I also plan to dab a little
zinc rich anti seize zinc rich anti seize
on the steel threads because I'm paranoid like that.

The one thing that makes me nervous about this magnetic drain plug is how long it is. Is it definitely safe to replace both plugs in the 955? For those running two, which plug picks up more metal, the front or rear?

cheers,
c

The length isnt an issue. Its safe. They both pick up the same amt of metal which is none in my engine. During the first hour or running they picked up a ton.

If that's the case, I'll just replace one for now and see how it does.

thanks,

Unfortunately, stupid people do stupid things.
The manual calls for 34 ft pounds torque. That's hard on an 8mm aluminum fitting.
I bought two new plugs at the first sign of wear after replacing a total of three similar drain plugs on my Polaris Ranger.
