Coolant pipes - How to know if they've been updated?
2005 Cayenne S....not sure if the coolant pipes have been changed as it was not in any details from earlier owner.
Is there an easy way to tell if they have been updated? Should I be overly concerned? If they have not been changed, should I have them updated asap?

There's a sticky right above called Coolant pipes A-Z
There will be info in there on how to check with a cell phone camera or borescope camera.
If plastic, they need to be replaced and the sooner the better.

As 19psi mentioned, a boroscope would be ideal. I've been able to check by removing the rear engine beauty cover and using a mirror to check. If it has the metal ones you should see one of the tabs for the pipes. If not done, it's a ticking time bomb. BTDT

Get a borescope on Amazon for use with your phone. It's a great tool to have around the house anyway.
I tried using a mirror and found it to be pretty hard to see anything. Maybe that was just me, but the borescope was pretty simple.

Not very good focus. Looks like not. That can be a good thing as no coolant has got into the starter or torque converter seal. Here is what the aluminum pipes look like. The plastic is the hold down clamp at the back of the engine.
