Adding Bluetooth to GEN1 955?
I am curious what is the best/most current solution folks have come up with for adding Bluetooth to early 955s without swapping headend?
Cayenne has phone touchpad on PCM and DVD player for Nav system under pass seat.
P.S. - did a search and it was a little all over the map and most from several years back.

I did mine with isimple and am very happy.
Streaming sat radio and hands-free phone work most excellently.

Subscribed. Search Denison, I think you might find good luck with them. Report back if you make a decision and let us know how it works out.

I have this set up as well. It's actually not too bad, you can hear some static/fuzz in the background but only when at full volume on the headunit and a quiet part of a song.
It hooks up inline with the fm radio antennae, there is an adapter you will have to buy to do so. DWCSedona has a good write up thread on the install.

Actually search Dension (it's spelled oddly)
http://www.dension.com/automotive/pr...edia-solutions
You probably want: http://shop.dension.com/mobilembed.compatibility.php?action=compbar_select&subaction=select5
http://www.dension.com/automotive/pr...ateway-500s-bt <--- model you need. It adds more than just BT.. I had this system on my '06 CS - and was happy with it. Plugged an old iPod into the Apple connector and had tunes with most of the iPod menu options. Phone worked fine over BT, and could stream from it also. USB thumbdrives with MP3's on them also worked fine. Lots of options, and none of the audio limitations an FM antenna converter one will give you.

I did the Tranzit Blu but find it to be very frustrating to use, many on here either with pigs or other Porsche platforms seem to like it. Generally it works fine but:
-1 out of 10 times it does not start up with the car, just static. If I restart the car it turns on normally, sometimes it does not and I have to restart a couple more times.
-I get weird beeps through the speakers that I cannot find an explanation for
-In big cities I get a constant static through the speakers (changing the station sometimes works, but sometimes not, its a PITA regardless)
-I have tried various sources to power it but upon starting the car i get loud static, then it turns on (very loud transition). Same thing when the car is turned off, music playing through bluetooth, engine shuts down, then static (because it is off now), remove key, peace and quiet again.
Sound quality is good and it is cheap but it feels rudimentary if you are used to OEM bluetooth integration. This is the first car I have owned in 8 years without bluetooth so it is getting me by until I replace the HU. Infinitely better than an FM transmitter though and not much more expensive.

I absolutely hate FM transmission for sound. Too many other (albeit very much more expensive) options out there. Again, good luck and keep up posted.

Thanks guys. Looks like some good options. I will research a little more and see what is going to work best. FM MOdulation is not first choice either....sound quality for music is always thin

FWIW - Crutchfield has decent multimedia headunits for $2-300 and they sell an "install kit" with purchase of headunit for $250. Comes with the fiber converter, steering wheel control adapter, face plate, and a few other bits. I've been tossing around the idea.
