Winter engine rebuild - 996
Looking for some input on performance upgrades:
I'm having my '02 3.6 engine rebuilt over the winter. Bottom end and head work. It has 132,000 miles and has had what my mechanic believes is "piston slap" probably due to a worn wrist pin. They've looked inside and found no scoring of cylinder walls. But who knows what we'll find once it's apart. I did have the IMS bearing replaced last year, so that part is OK. Since I track the car we have already installed the deep sump and baffle.
Without going overboard and building a $30K engine, what upgrades are recommended for a modest performance improvement?
Thanks.
P.S. The engine still needs to be street-able as I drive it fairly regularly.
