I installed one when I added a few ponies to the car a couple of years ago. That was the only reason I did it; I wasn't having any cooling issues. Still don't.

I have an addional cooler (Cargraphic unit). It keeps my oil temps much cooler. I run 180 °F or cooler even after 30 minutes on the track at temps of 90 °F to 110 °F. I also have better airflow as I've got the EVO front and the fans are removed from the coolers.. Fan removal is not soething you want to do to a street car, but helps a lot on the track.

Recently I heard the other side to to the argument that said too low oil temperature and there is a likely hood of sludge buildup. What say you?

If in doubt about over cooling, just plumb in a thermostat:

There is already a thermostat in the line to the primary cooler. The aux coolers attach downstream of that. The only downside to an additional cooler is the expense and effort of installing it.

I put the factory Turbo S auxiliiary cooler on the car, fits with no hassles. It's a little 9-row deal. For sale if you want it...
