Any gotchas w/ these on a 993 case(other than boring the case spigots out? How about headgaskets and cyl base gaskets?
Any info available on the coating used?
Any info on the tapered wristpins? Sounds trick but its greek to me.
Ant balance issues?
Help, I'm way over my head here

Hi Bill:
Many questions,..........
1) There are two oversions of these 102mm P/C's: one is a slip-in (no boring) and one requires machine work on the case spigots. The price difference is very significant. I would reserve the use of the bore-in ones to race engines that spend their life above 7000 RPM.
2) These are all Nikasil cylinders.
3) Like all Mahles, these use straight wristpins, only the JE pistons have an optional lightweight tapered one.
4) I match weights on everything I do and all you need is to ensure that each piston assembly is the same weight and if they vary, match them up on each side so that oppsoite side pistons are the same.
Hope this helps as we do do this conversion all the time.

For anyone interested here is a pic showing the semi-tapered wristpin of a PMS 3.8 RSR piston(left) and a JE 2.7 RS normal straight wristpin(right) apparantly there is also a fully tapered wristpin available for the JEs. Note the PMS coating(very nice!
