Post Mating 964 with 915/06 tranny

Is it possible to use the Carrera 3.2 flywheel from a 84-86 car for mating a 964 or 993 engine to the 915 tranny? From what I understand it would have the DME teething and it is 225mm in diameter. Any comments are welcome.

Someone mentioned that there is exactly one Porsche OEM flywheel for a not-so-common car (maybe a Japanese market car) in the late seventies that could be used. Any ideas

PS: I know Patrick has "special flywheels" for exactly this purpose. I was wondering what makes them special, though... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Bill,

excellent site. I have read it so many times as well as Jack's site, Instant-G, etc.

The reason I am asking for the flywheel is that I might be able to source one together with the 3.6 engine.

I think that the determinant will be the bolt pattern on the end of the crankshaft. I really do not know if the 3.2 f/w will bolt to the 3.6 crank. I never though to investigate it. I suspect not else why does Patrick do such a good business in them. The f/w was the best part of the package I bought from them, and there is/was a choice of 3 different weights. Price was very reasonable(at the time I did it) also. If i were to do it again I would use a Patrick f/w and Dr. Timmons for the rest.
