Post 928 oil filters and by-pass valves

The Mahle OC46 filter for the 928 clearly has a by-pass valve/spring inside it. Does the 928 motor have an additional one as well or is this the only one in the system? Some cars have one, two or zero. Any idea what the by-pass pressure would be to actuate the valve?

The explanation for the questions: I was omparing the 928's filter to the little Mahle OC49 I normally put in my 325iS trackster and noticed they have identical O-rings, spin-on threads, diameters and nearly identical valves. It is tempting to install the relatively huge 928 filter (70% greater volume) on the little bimmer and increase the oil capacity. The OC46 fits just fine--easier to install/remove, actually.

It might be nice to have no by-pass valve at all but I would want to avoid too much by pass.

Thanks for any ideas or warnings.
