Post 1975 2.7 S engine pros and cons??

Any input on this.

I thought about a 2.7S that's available, don't know the condition of the engine yet.But it's a 1975 911S.
For $2000.Your pros and cons on the engines.
Thanks again for your thoughts!

Hi Gary:

As you might have been told previously, the 2.7 was somewhat problematic due to heat related issues. If these engines are overhauled properly and have really effective oil cooling that contain operating temps to no more than 210 deg ever, they are very durable.

Fact is, the 210 HP Carrera was very durable as they ran very cool (no emissions gear) and other RS type clones that are carbureted or MFI'ed last a very long time.

Heat is the mortal enemy of the 2.7 and if that is dealt with properly, the 2.7 is excellent.

The worst years were 75-77 as few of these cars had the optional front oil cooler and they ran quite hot due to the lean running CIS and thermal reactors. Just see who overhauled the engine and precisely what was done at that time.
