Carrera intake runners

I just purchased an '84 Carrera which will be my track and autocross car. I hear the intake runners are restrictive and this was remedied on the later 3.6L.
What solutions if any are there for the 3.2?
Thanks!

Robby:
The intake runners are not restrictive; their flowrates are often uneven from branch to branch.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
This was fixed with the plastic manifolds found on the later 964's and '95 993's.
We flow them, send to Extrude-Hone, then reflow them for effect. Works great.

Steve,
I have a set for my '87 911 turbo if I go EFI. Would you recommend the procedure? Or would the turbo overcome some of the flowrates? Are we talking big bucks?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim:
FWIW,..we test each & every pair of Carrera manifolds on our flow bench and the vast majority of them get sent to Extrude-Hone for effect.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
These get retested and the changes are noted in the engine build book.
Flow is flow and it makes no difference whether its forced-induction or not. The whole point is to ensure that each cylinder receives the same amount of air since each one gets the same quantity of fuel,..
Thats how each cylinder performs the same amount of work; equal cylinder pressures (BMEP).

Steve, Do I have to send my intake runners to Ori-gone or do you have them there and take the core later? I suppose I should be contacting you off list. Perhaps you are not comfortable with doing business this way?
