Default Engine Identification Dillema

Last spring I purchased a professionally prepared Club Race 911 advertised in Panorama from a reputable Porsche motorsport shop. The shop owner (seller) representing the car owner advertized the car with an extensive list of modifications, including a "Porsche Motorsport" 3.4 engine. In the negotiation phase before closing, the seller agreed, as a condition of sale, to collect the entire documented history of the car in his possesion and turn it over to the buyer (me). One year and numerous, calls, emails, etc later, and I don't have document one. I can't express how frustrating it has been trying to set up a car knowing little if anything about the tune up specifications, not to mention spring rates, dampening rates, alignment, fuel cell, fuel pump, ...............

Here's my question: The engine crankcase is stamped with two numbers; 930/21 indicating it is a 3.2, and the following serial number: 64004386. Can anyone help identify what I own and where I might obtain it's specifications?.

Sorry to hear about your documentation problems. The 930/21 is a Japan/Canada/US spec 84-86 engine, and the serial numbers are all number-number-letter, so I'd guess yours is 64G.... which is a 1986 engine. Originally delivered as 3164 cc, with 9.5:1 compression, 95mm Nikasil cylinders, 74.4mm stroke, 40mm intake, 38mm exhaust, producing 207hp at 5900 rpm. With Bosch LE-Jetronic DME/Motronic fuel injection, 3 wire O2 sensor, and oil-fed tensioners were standard.

Thanks Bill, it's a start, except that it's got MFI, RSR stacks, crank-fire ignition, headers, megaphones and who knows what internally. I haven't had the plugs out yet. As soon as we get a little heat in the air I'll be getting to work on it. Given that at least the crankcase started life as a 3.2, what would be your sage advise for valve adjustment? 0.1mm?
