Default RATT RSR shifter, what is it??

I'm interested in the shifter and linkage set up on the Gunnar Racing RATT RSR featured a couple of months ago in Pano. Anybody know anything about this set up? Was it fabricated by Gunnar or is available off the shelf.

The RATT RSR shifter looks like it might be more affordable vs. the Hargett ($800) or the Fabcar (~$1100) I was looking at earlier.

Let us know what you find out.

Does this and the Fabcar shifter work in conjunction (and exclusively) with an upside down gearbox?

I saw a 930 at VIR last year with a Fabcar shifter and it had the stock tranny (right side up).

I assume they all work with the stock tranny. But you know what assuming means...

Thanks guys. I got this back from Kevin at Gunnar. I guess you have to have an upside down tranny in a rightside up car.

The Fabcar shifter for a 930 is designed for an upside down gearbox, but it will work with a normal gearbox as well.

Since it is custom made, could they make one for a right side up tranny? What would it cost I wonder? What does the one they make now cost for comparison?

I want a shifter that is higher up and further back due to my height and my seat being being further back. Makes it hard to reach 3rd gear sometimes.

I hear ya Rocket, that's what sparked my interest. A couple of guys suggested Fabcar makes one. I dunno, their website was down the last time I checked. Maybe I'll take a drive over there one of these days and ask Dave Klym. I'm also wondering why someone couldn't build a platform of bracket similar to the RATT car? Then just fit a shifter to it and linkage back to the tranny with WEVO joints.

"...wondering why someone couldn't build a platform of bracket similar to the RATT car? Then just fit a shifter to it and linkage back to the tranny with WEVO joints."

All it takes is to mount the factory shifter on a sturdy platform closer to the wheel (or where ever you want it), then connect it to the gearbox using a multi-u-jointed shift tube (or equivalent CV joints). The tube will probably angle out of the access box in the rear floor and connect upward towards the shifter. Something like that. It's the same setup as a driveshaft with a lot of angularity between gearbox and differential except one wouldn't have to worry about transferring torque.

And since the shift housing is closer to the wheel, you can shorten the lever and create an instant short shifter.
