Racing countershaft with square cut gears- Steve W.?.
Is is worth going to the square cut gear racing counter shaft?
I know they are noisy, this will be a dedicated race engine.
I have opportunity to buy one but wanted some input since I have not used one before.
How do you measure the lash, same as street part?

For a race-only engine, yessir.
You can't do anything about the lash. When they are worn out, you replace them. Since these are straight-cut, not helical gears, the street measurement is not valid........

LOL,..Yessir, that sums it up very nicely.
I mock-assemble the crank & intermediate shaft into the case, torque it up and see what I have. Its a "finesse" sort of thing as well as doing a close inspection of the gears.
