Default 951 ENGINE REBUILD ADVICE???

In the process of rebuilding my '86 951 engine and am looking for any advice on upgrade/performance parts that I should look into for better performance out of the engine. More importantly, better reliability (if there is anything that porsche has left on the table for us to improve upon)
I'm going to do bearings and rings obviously. Is there rods that I should look at replacing my stock with? I've heard from several people that the stock porsche rods in the '86 are the best ones for this car. Should I do something with the crank? I'm obviously going to do the clutch while the engine is out and will mostlikely go for a lightweight flywheel. Any suggestions?
I know it's a very open bunch of questions...but I know there is an incredible wealth of knowledge out there that has done this before me.
Thanks

If you're doing the lightweight flywheel then you should look into having your crank lightened as well as some oiling modifications to both the crank and oil pickup/pan. Maybe chat with Performance Development in CA (949 646 7461- not sure if this is a working number) or EBS (Engine Builder Supply) in Nevada (800-462-3774).

Russ brought out several good points as always. If you take the crank out to lighten it, you should have it cross drilled or perp drilled for better oiling to the rod bearings. Lindsey sells an oil pan baffle kit, and don't overlook a WBO2 kit so that you can tune your car.

If you have cylinder walls and they're scratched, since you would have to bore and re-alusil treat, there are now aftermarket pistons through Tom Charlesworth, 918-664-8714, who can supply you with iron/graphite coated 100.5 and 101mm pistons, even 101mm 2.8L pistons which have the wrist pin relocated for the 3.0L crank. We have the 100.5 in our track car.

EBS Racing for ARP head studs and Paragon-products for Raceware studs. If you o-ring the block or the head, use the WFHG but if no o-ring us the Cometic from Performanc Developments.

to prime the oil pump, fill the oil through the oil filter housing hole, turn the engine over counterclockwise about 5 times, one time clockwise and check TDC, pull the DME relay, turn the car over 3-4 times, install DME relay, start and oil pressure should come right up.
