Agreed. F.I. is the only way to put down those kinds of numbers with a 4-cylinder engine. There are several supercharger options available but to do them right will end up costing about $2,500-$3,000 plus the cost of the kit itself. I'm going through this now with the Callaway and have most of what I need to do it properly. I think there are at least a couple of people on here that have done supercharger setups on the 2.5L engines.

I think $-per-hp the supercharger kits are the best way to go, even though there's a bit of "sticker shock" associated with them. There is NO WAY to just bolt on cheap horsepower to these engines - you'll do more harm than good if you try. Trust me, take your time, save up, spend the money, and do it right. It'll go like a raped ape and last forever.

 

220 hp in an NA takes head,cam/springs,intake/TB and header mods. And fuel/ignition to go with it. But not much more. Then you don't have to rev it over 7k,so all the "rev-induced parts-to-change" are not needed.

 

FWIW I was just reading about Alex Eacock's NA 944, seems with a Champion-approved induction kit, and ECU he was able to put out 194BHP at the Flywheel.

I have heard that the 944 turbo valve springs will work/fit into a 944 NA head and have a 10-20% higher spring value. Is this ture?

 

If you're going to do a swap - spend a little extra and get a 968 motor rather than an S2. The incremental difference is quite small, and you have an extra 20+ HP

Looking for HP go for a 968 or S2 -3L this way you start with the beef-
better tranny -better HP -944 track cars are a dime a dozen -
a( millege motor) cost more than a 968 -and you start with bigger HP
you will be happy-
