981 race headers and CEL
Hello,
I’ve searched but haven’t found the answer to, what seems to me, a simple question.
I’m considering no-cat headers for my 981 Cayman S. I’ve read they can cause a check engine light.
Question is, can the CEL be cancelled by a tune or pro-tune?
To be clear, I do not want the check engine light to come on after installing cat-less headers.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks much,
Derek

@NoSubstitute981 Short answer is Yes. Longer answer, Softronic Tune.
Can you elaborate some on this?

@NoSubstitute981 Many of the aftermarket tuning companies, Cobb included, have bent to the pressure of the EPA and are no longer including CEL deactivation as part of their tunes. Scott at Softronic still provides a tune that eliminates the CEL light when catless headers are used. Additionally, if you search the Rennlist forums you will find that many people feel Scott's tunes are superior to others on the market regardless of the CEL deactivation feature. I for one have used Softronic tunes on a number of Porsches as they are a mandatory first upgrade for any one my wife or I purchase. If you have any questions about Softronic tunes, give Scott a call. He is very personable and a wealth of knowledge. Also, you may want to read the thread below.
Cobb no longer supporting deleting CEL light with catless headers?

I appreciate that. I’m thinking I’ll do the Softronic tune before I pull the trigger on the headers. Just to kinda see what happens.
I did the Cobb on the wifeys Macan S and the result was profound! I’m not expecting the same with the non-turbo Cayman but should be interesting.
Thanks for the response Mr.!
