Cooling system fault message after Fabspeed competition exhaust install
Hi everyone and thank you in advance for any suggestions or similar experiences you may have had regarding this issue. I just had a Fabspeed lightweight competition exhaust installed on my 2016 Cayman GT4. Let me first say that I couldn't be happier with the system... the sound, quality and fitment are terrific. I was concerned about the cabin drone, but it's not near as bad as I anticipated. However after driving it around for an hour or so after the install, I received a "Cooling system fault Consult a workshop service required" message. After an initial google search, it looks as though it may be related to the factory PSE vacuum lines. Since the competition system does not utilize valves, the vacuum lines were cut and plugged. I am wondering if the vacuum lines may have a slight leak in the plug which may have triggered the message. Or perhaps the vacuum lines should have been left open to the atmosphere? The car runs perfect, and temps are in the normal operating range of 186-219F (183-200F when in sport mode). I am going to call Fabspeed in the morning, but thought I would start a thread on here and see if anyone has experienced a similar issue. I know I'm not the only one running an exhaust without valves. I will also post back when I hear from Fabspeed. Thanks all!

Hey Man,
Phil here from Fabspeed. We have heard of this before.
Glad you are happy. This is a very simple fix unclog the valves let them work regularly. That light should turn off.

Thanks for the reply Phil. When you say unclog the valves do you mean unplug the vacuum lines that lead to the valves on the factory PSE? I have the competition system which does not have valves. The shop that installed the system plugged the vacuum lines; you're saying to unplug them and let them vent?

Great! Thanks for the reply Phil, much appreciated. Do you think it will require a scan tool to remove the "coolant fault" message? Or should I put some miles on it and see if it goes away?
I couldn't be happier with your product; my car is getting a lot of attention amongst Porsche owners in my area... you may be getting a few more orders from NorCal!

Hi Phil, thanks for following up. I was afraid of introducing a leak or debris in the vacuum system so I secured the plugs in the PSE vacuum lines with Teflon tape (assuring a good seal), used a scan tool to eliminate the coolant fault message and all has been fine. I have put around 150 miles on the car so far and the message has not come back. I also learned through another member that I should not press the PSE button as this will effect a change over valve upstream of the PSE vacuum lines, which may have been the original cause of the coolant message. I will let you know if the light reappears. Thanks again for the follow-up!
