2010-2011 Panamera: Camshaft Adjuster Bolt/Engine Failures?
I am thinking about purchasing a 2010 Panamera Turbo with no warranty. I had gotten as far as scheduling a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) but questions around camshaft adjuster bolt failures have given me cold feet. I am referring to the aluminum bolts on the cam shaft adjuster that break off and end up being digested by the engine on some Panamera's and Cayenne's.
I've searched this forum and other forums. I've called Porsche North America. I talked to the Porsche mechanic where I scheduled the PPI and they've seen a couple cars with the issue. I can't get a warm fuzzy feeling about this potential purchase.
How wide spread is this issue? Am I over reacting?
Thanks!

I figured I would get at least one response by now.... Between Panamera and Cayenne failures, I've seen enough to decide I'm staying away from 2010-2011's unless the camshaft adjuster has been replaced with the updated parts. All cars have issues but a design flaw that can lead to a new engine out of warranty is too big a gamble for me.
