2015 Panamera GTS - eager anticipation!
Hi folks - brand new to this forum. I've been a MOPAR enthusiast all my life (owned nearly 70 different versions of Chrysler corporation vehicles, most from the muscle car era) and recently sold out after a Panamera sighting stole my heart. Back in early 2013 I was on a business trip and spotted the first Panamera I'd ever seen, didn't know at the time that it existed. An exciting experience, I actually had to "speed up" to catch the car so I could read the insignia on the tail gate. I'd always admired Porsche, but never was interested in what the brand had to offer; however, I always did admire a performance sedan. I immediately began doing some research, got hooked on the GTS, and embarked on a mission to raise enough money to afford one. After liquidating 3 MOPAR muscle carws from my collection, I placed and order in February. It should be here by the end of this month. It is a GTS painted in GT Silver with approximately $27k in options. I hope I made the right decision. Seems that what I've read on this forum and several others, the Panamera is an excellent car. Expectations are high. I'll share some photos and additional info after I take delivery. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with an entirely different group of auto enthusiasts!
Enjoy your GTS! The exhaust note is excellent, although different from your MOPAR's. No wheel spin with the GTS, just puts the power down and goes no matter what the road surface. Very cool that a dedicated muscle car guy finds the GTS worthy. I could never have a muscle car as a kid so am making up for it with the GTS. The exhaust note on acceleration or overrun definitely lets people know you are there and probably surprises car people because most big German sedans are relatively quiet.
Thanks Andrew, compliments noted. Our first visit to a Porsche dealer in 2013 landed us in a base model test drive with the V6. But the salesman did not let me drive and I just wasn't impressed at all. He also wasn't interested in us enough to pull his only GTS out of the showroom for at least a sound demo and it ultimately cost that dealership (Dallas, TX) the sale.
In January of this year a business trip landed us in Beverly Hills for a few days. Just for fun we visited the dealership there who had eight GTS models in stock. The salesman let me choose the one to test drive AND while on the road encouraged a few acceleration trials .. couldn't believe it! My wife rode in the back seat and was equally impressed. And the exhaust - as fine a note if not finer, than the HEMI.
Three weeks later we ordered one from our closest dealer in Shreveport, Louisiana .... just couldn't make the economics work from the Beverly Hills dealership, but they gave us a great experience ... actually did what little selling had to be done for me to "pull the trigger"!

Dealerships sure do vary. I've had my share of gripes about my local one, but nothing as extreme as your experience in Dallas. They let me drive the car I wanted to purchase (Panamera S e Hybrid), and the second time I came in, they let my wife and I drive cars without the salesman (the above, plus a Cayman S and a Boxster LE).
The salesman didn't encourage me to push the Panamera, though. In fact, he made some comments about customers being too eager to push the cars in test drives. Which doesn't make sense to me - the main selling point of these cars is how they feel when you really get to open them up. If he'd had any sense he would have said "let's try a Turbo so you know what power really feels like."

Never drove a GTS ..yet, but did over 25'000 miles on our P4S, (with air suspension), ..and I can tell you that this is the best car we ever had, and ..by far.
The GTS being even better than the 4S, I have no doubt that you selected the best one !
Kudos.

I just drove a Panamera GTS at a Kentucky Speedway event run by the Porsche Sports Driving School crew (John Lewis - chief instructor).
I thought it was just as much fun as the 911's we drove in the same environment. The exhaust note is truly satisfying when put in the Sport or Sport Plus mode.
During the hot lap portion of the event (instructors driving - we riding), the GTS sounded like a NASCAR V8 when it shot by the finish-line straight!
