Default "HOLD" function

Someone please describe what this is supposed to do. I think I understand what its purpose is, but find it unnecessary. Annoying at times.

Anyway to turn it off?

Uh, you have it because the PDK is not an automatic, it's a dual clutch automated manual. In an automatic transmission there is slip available through the torque converter so you can coast backward down a hill and when you apply throttle the torque converter builds up force until the car moves forward. In a automated manual without the Hold function you would roll backward without holding the brakes yourself and when you took off on steep hills there is a chance you could stall the car (same as trying to start on a steep hill with a manual transmission) or induce too much clutch slip and wear.

Having said that driving with it is a different experience that takes a little getting used to.

Uh, I'm pretty sure I could learn to not take my foot off of the brake when on a hill. LOL

Thanks for the explanation though.
