my bad P4S
I have a 2010 P4S for 30,000km (bought new when it came out), it has gone in and out of workshop 4 - 5 times (not including regular checkup and maintenance). once it got the gearbox issue and replaced under warranty, then an engine issue that dragged on for like a month, recently a suspension issue in the workshop for 2 weeks now... it just creates problems more than I would expect..
While I like my P4S (my first Porsche) a lot, I really wonder if that's actually normal for a Porsche .. I have driven bmw and Mercedes and they are much more reliable ... as much as I like Porsche as a brand, but this is making me reconsider for future Porsche...
btw, i drive very mild... no track day no nothing.. just city drive..

Sorry to hear about your difficulties! I have a 2012 PTT and 35,000 miles - not a single issue. Hopefully your future cars will be better.
I had a similar issue with my wife's last X5 (her 3rd X5) - it was in the shop 21 times over 28 months. The X5's are not all bad, but that one was bad for sure! To that end don't give up on Porsche but do move that car for another and you will likely have better luck, we did.
Good luck with some better times ahead.

I think you can get a lemon from any manufacturer.
In the past, over 5 Range Rover, I had one (the 2nd) that was just the pain. After many returns to shop to fix it (under warranty), I got an offer (from the Swiss importer, via the dealer) that was so good (high trade in value, + good discount on any new one and this, together with presentation of excuses), that it was impossible to refuse. I went on, got a fully loaded one, and was very happy.
The dealer did pass to the importer all the info (list of problem that we had) and did a perfect work. Sure, it was the pain to have all these problem, but, thanks to the (very good) full support from the dealer, the "story" end-up to be a good one.
Ah, ..this was in Geneva, (Switzerland) and the dealer was Autobritt.
To be back on topic, I do have a 2010 Panamera 4S, and ..beside the water pipes break (very well know problem on Cayenne V8's) around 25'000 miles, I'm currently a very happy camper.

2010 was the first year for the Panamera, yes? That could be why you're having so many issues. Or as others have pointed out, it could just be a "bad car" which does happen occasionally. Well, maybe more so with BMW.
Overall, I have found Porsche cars to be above average in reliability and cost of ownership (as far as repairs go). Depreciation is another story...

I also have a 2010 P4S now with 30,000 miles. I have not experienced transmission problems or oil consumption problems. The most serious problem was a computer brain-fart which did not disable the car and cleared on a restart. The dealer had the computer reprogrammed and haven't had that problem return in the following 3 years.
