Default Thermal & Noise Insulated Glass

I am building a GTS, is the Thermal and Noise insulated glass worth it?

Any thoughts will be appreciated

I have it on my 12 PTT. I am happy with my car, but can't say if it is worth it or not. This is my first Panny, so I don't have a point of comparison. There is no downside and only upside to getting it, except the cost of course.

I'm a big believer in it. I parked in the sun for close to an hour in Death Valley when it was around 123° and when I got back in the car it was still cooler inside than it was outside. So I kept the windows closed and the A/C cooled the car down pretty quickly. That's never happened to me in another car.

It's also very good at keeping out traffic noise.

4-zone climate option will also cool the car quickly as it has a second AC unit and extra air vents.

I have it on my 2010 PTT and I love it. Car is cooler and definitely quieter. You really notice it when passing a semi on the highway. I believe its also UV protected so no aging or skin cancer. That was a good selling point on the wife LOL!! Feel free to use that line if needed, I give permission Ha ha!

i have this option and i am not too happy with the way that the glass doesn't have an area which allow the transponder to be placed, in the manual it mentioned to place it beside the rear view mirror, it doesn't seem to work anywhere in the front windshield. i end up placed the transponder on the sunroof, the benz s class i also have don't have such problem.

I don't have it on my panamera but it sounds like a great option for warmer climates to keep the sun out and keep the car cool. It does add considerable weight I'm told. Haven't seen one in person so I don't know how it appears. Since I always apply tint to my cars, if I no longer needed to do that it would defray the cost of the insulated glass.

A very well worth the price option!

We have had the new GTS for two months now and the thermal noise insulated glass is great. I have a white Pano and a white X5, the pano is remarkably cooler after sitting in the sun. It also blocks out road noise but not the suite sound of the sport exhaust.

I highly recommend it for any new P car

Default Is Window Tinting Beneficial

If I have the thermal and Noise insulated glass, is there no point to tinting other than for cosmetic reasons? Is there any negative impact? I am picking up my new Turbo Exec and was debating getting the windows tinted when it has this option already. Thanks!

tinting the thermal/noise insulated glass does help improve the heat rejection by a good amount as the IR treatment in the glass itself can only do so much

My understanding is that the glass does affect radar/lidar functionality.

any windshield mounted radar detector is going to have greatly diminished ability to alert you, the thermal insulated glass has a metallic treatment, it also affects gps and cell to some degree

I've had to abandon the use of my old 9500ix because the windshield only has 2 spots above the rearview mirror that allow signals to pass through
