Panamera 4S vs 911 4S
#3
Before the 4S I had 3 911s, an 88 Targa, a 90 Cab and a 993C2S. I'm not the least bit sorry about buying a 4S Panamera. It handles as well as the 993, is more comfortable, can carry passengers, is faster, gives better gas mileage and accelerates faster. What's not to like? I don't need to manually shift anymore, after owning at least a dozen manual transmission sports cars from Alfas through Porsches, the thrill has worn off.

My last two Porsches before the PGTS were a 996GT3 and a 996C2.
As I've broken it in and gotten more comfortable pushing it, it is shocking how well the Panamera compares to other sports cars including 911s. It's not the greatest looking sedan in the world, IMO, but it sure makes up for it in grin factor.
Oh, and BTW, unlike the GT3, this is a car that I can enjoy at least 2-3 times a week in the normal flow of life.

I moved into a Panny S from a 997 S cab. They are certainly different cars but the Panamera does an amazing 911 imitation. I admit I miss the thrill and noise of the 911 but I have no regrets. Well one,I didn't wait for the GTS. Occasionally I think about getting a weekend toy but that would mean less seat time in the Panamera. No thanks.

I had a 997.2S when I added my P4S in May of '10. I replaced the 911 with a 997.2 GTS in Feb of '11.
The Panny is my ski and hauling car. People, bicycles, whatever - the Panamera is great. Basically, I use it as a station wagon. I actually put more miles on the 911, as it's my daily driver. Between commuting to work and track/autocross events, the miles add up. If I HAD to pick just one, I'd take the Panamera because ultimately it can do more than the 911 can. But I wouldn't give up the 911 unless I had no choice at all.

I'm about to make that change. I have an 09 C4S and have a Pan GTS arriving on Monday. I struggled over whether to keep the C4S, but decided ultimately that I wouldn't drive it that much once I got the Pan GTS. I test drove the GTS and it is a fun car. It will take some time to get used to the larger size, but the engine and suspension are awesome.
