Default Faulty Coolant Sensor?

I cold-started my 2010 P4S yesterday & today early AM, temp in low 30s first time this season. Warning light went off "check coolant level" and coolant temp gauge pinned at an impossible 250 degrees. I rebooted the car & all was normal, no more false warnings. Any similar experiences? 13K miles on vehicle. I'm stopping by the dealer next week, but couldn't find a satisfactory explanation in the manual.

I just saw your question about the cooling sensor, I didn't have this problem but I just was told by the car that I had a "Chassis Failure" and it occurred only once and I can't repeat the problem. My suspicion is a computer fart. Did you ever check with the dealer?

The coolant level was marginally low. They topped it off and the problem ceased. I've had random failure messages a few times that all resolved with restarting the system, but nothing repetitive.
