Transaxle??
Hi guys. Can someone please tell e whether the 2wd auto Panamera has the gearbox at the rear (transaxle) or has the gearbox mated directly to the rear of the engine?
The reason I ask is that the 928s had / have a rear mounted transaxle and are prone to engine thrust bearing failure as the central shaft linking the engine to the transaxle exerts forward pressure on to the crank that can end in the crank grinding itself into the web.
Porsche know all to well about that now, so if the Panamera has a rear mounted transaxle driven by a high speed shaft from the engine I'd like to understand what they have done to avoid the inherent 928 problem.
And maybe we 928 owners could learn from this?
Thanks
Dave
