Burmester or Bose sound?

I am glad that you mentioned it. Even the PCM audio (not the basic system, but one level up) on the Cayenne sounds quite good, probably due to different acoustics and much larger speakers on the Cayenne front doors than the Panamera. We have Bose on our 2011 Panamera and we only upgraded to PCM when we ordered our 2013 Cayenne. We feel the PCM audio on the Cayenne is comparable to the Bose on the Panamera.

I have a panamera loaner with the optional bose system...
The bose audio system is crap, and it should be a sin that it is AN OPTION on such an expensive luxury sedan. The pioneer system in my GMC terrain ($30K new) is not any worse and the HK logic 7 in the e60 M5 is light years ahead of the bose. SAD.
I haven't listened to the burmester.

A good shop can give you a audio system that blows both systems out of the water for the 5500 they want for the Burn. Just did a 991 with Focal and JL amps... 5500.00 Smoked Both system/
I have a DYN audio package for 6500.00 that uses the Mosconi Amps. DYN Audio is the stock system in a Bugatti Veron... That's the best OEM System in the world!

burmester is amazing. i have it in my 991. the real testamant is that the bass, treble, balance, & front/rear bias all can be left @ zero & the stereo is just perfectly placed regardless of where you are sitting.
i don't know any other stereo that will do that

I have my Burmester connected to an ipod classic in the glove compartment. I've loaded it with playlists and about 500 CD's. It works better than expected. Surprisingly that the sound quality is almost as good as a regular CD.

bose vs burmester
i recently bought the Panamera GTS w / burm upgrade , there is NO comparison the burm is total "gangster" i have my iPhone 6 streaming with new apple music app thru wired USB ( the key is wired not Blue tooth ) its not only awesome its the best sound period . total 11 out of scale of 10
i would never buy another car like this that you spend 100k or more and not have this upgrade ,

I configured my '15 991 TTS with the Burmester and it is awesome. My CPO'd Panamera GTS has the Bose and it is by far the best Bose car system I have had, which includes MB's, Audi's and Porsche's. No compatibility problems with either car. I suppose it depends upon what your audio demands and music are, but for me the Bose in my GTS is perfect.
FWIW, I would never spec Bose or buy their home products after the Bose amp in my former A8 failed a month after the warranty expired. Not sure how the Bose in the Pan compares with the stock system, but the comment on their being overpriced is probably right. Burm is expensive, but it performs.
