While inspected the front suspension for squeaks, I found these pieces INSIDE the dust boots of the front shocks (2016 4S, non-air suspension). In both left and right sides, 3 pieces in each boot. Two pieces are intact, one is broken. Hard plastic, not soft like a typical bump stop. All have part number 970.343.803.00, but a search turns up nothing. The dust boots have a tear in them I noticed them just floating around in there. Might have been attached around the piston rod at one time (the center hole of one piece that is not distorted or broken is about the diameter of the rod), but why? There is a full bump stop at the top of each shock. Anyone know what these are?
