Default Spark Plug socket

Hello, new to the group. I'm wanting to replace the spark plugs in the wife's 2019 Panamera 4. Removed the coil packs, but none of my sockets seem to work. I've got deepwell 6 and 12 point, SAE and Metric. Since the plugs are so far recessed, I can't really see what's going on, but the sockets don't seem to be going down far enough to catch. I've seen one or two videos mention a thin-wall socket, 14mm socket. Is that what's needed?

Thanks,
Mike

You need a thin wall 14mm 12-point spark plug socket. I borrowed one, but they're all over Amazon as VAG and BMW uses them that I know of. Get one with a swivel built in as you will need a swivel either way.

As mentioned above same as BMW / Mini. Ares 11001 about $20 USD on Amazon. Buy the one below 12” extension with swivel and magnetic socket. Makes life easier.

Yes IIRC, a swivel extension is listed in the “special tools” section of the workshop manual for spark plugs. Frankly I’m impressed you got this far without realizing you need a special socket. You already did all the hardest parts. The job was a beast on my 4s with those damn plastic harness boxes in the way of both bank’s coil packs.

Check out Koken sockets. They are worth the spend.

Posting for laughs... yes, the socket needs to be RATHER thin, but nothing a few hours with a dremel won't solve
