Default Mr12Volt Issues

Just installed the newest version of Mr12Volt (w/ factory mic support) and sound is fantastic, but running into two issues that have me stumped. First, when I make a call from CarPlay, as soon as I hang up, whatever music was playing before the call will resume, however, there is no sound. I can see the track is still running based on the time slider for the track, but no sound. Getting the sound back requires going back to PCM several times, then seems to work on like the 4th or 5th try...weird. I've tried several calls, and each time, the music is muted when the call ends and can't easily be unmuted. The other way I've found to get the sound back is to use my iPhone to quit music and relaunch on the phone. Second issue, my PTT came w/ backup sensors but no camera. I've added a camera via the Mr12Volt, however, my parking sensors no longer work (no beeping). Camera works fine, but no more alarms from the parking sensors. Any ideas? I've started a chat directly w/ Mr12Volt, but responses are pretty slow.

Please keep us posted on how this goes, I'm very keen to install one of these kits but would love to understand what I'm in for.. The only one that interests me is the MR12Volt.

I haven't tried with another phone, yet, but after messing with it a little more tonight, it seems that if I hang up first (rather than the person I called hanging up first), the music resumes as it should (with sound). I only tried this once as my wife was getting pissed I kept calling her to test :-). Hoping Roman will chime in with a solution :-)

The music muting issue aside, here are my initial thoughts:
- sound quality is fantastic...I have Bose system and it sounds wonderful
- install was pretty easy and there's plenty of space on the passenger footwell to hide the box
- touch screen is pretty slow, but I kinda expected that since it is a 15 year old unit (my PTT is a 2010); that said, it still responds fine, you just have to move a little slower when using the touchscreen. I do like that I have the option to use the right side dial to also scroll thru the buttons on the screen vs. using touchscreen
- pretty cool that the parking sensors still show up on the screen when the back up cam is on...it's not the stock view w/ the colored bubbles, but it's a smaller version in the top right corner of the screen w/ 3 bars in the front to represent front left, front center, and front right sensors...same for the rear. I was worried I'd lose the visuals from the parking sensors, but that's not the case.
Overall, I think it's a pretty great unit and will be near perfect (for me at least) once I figure out this muting issue.

If you don't select the TV option, does the PCM act completely as before outside MR12Volt? Parking sensors, camera? Also does the ipod function work as if it was never installed? Thanks!

Yes, PCM works just as before, including the MFD in the cluster, parking sensors, etc. I didn't have a factory camera, so added one via the Mr12Volt. BTW, also heard back from Mr12Volt customer service on the music muting issue...simple fix; just disconnect PCM from bluetooth, and just use the Mr12Volt bluetooth connection. I did this and all works as it should (ie. music resumes after call hang up).

TL;DR
In iOS, if you just swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to access the Control Center, there should be an icon that looks like a speaker within the widget that displays what's currently playing and a play/pause button surrounded by 15 second rewind/fast forward icons on either side. If you have airpods that are currently connected to your phone, the speaker icon may instead look like an airpod. Keep the PCM and your phone paired. You're gonna want the convenience of taking calls through your car's mic and sound system, trust me. That icon in the Control Center is how you change your audio output device in iOS 😄

...

I've had the Mr12Volt system in my car for a few years now. Love it! The issue with your sound not returning after a call is less a Mr12Volt system issue and more of an iOS user experience bug. When you're connected to both the PCM and Mr12Volt, both devices are capable of playing audio being output by your phone. You don't need to disconnect the PCM's bluetooth and in fact absolutely shouldn't because you're going to want to take calls through your car's built-in mic as it was designed to be able to do. The PCM registers itself as a device that can both receive audio to play and send audio to your phone via a mic so when you receive a call when you're connected to Carplay AND the PCM, your phone switches to the PCM so you can take the call. This is desirable and you're gonna want to continue using it. When you're done with the call, your iPhone should just automatically switch you back to the last audio output device you were connected to before the call. Unfortunately it doesn't and I believe this is a user experience bug they hopefully will eventually fix.

For now, you just need to switch the audio output back to Carplay yourself when you're done with the call. No need to unpair your PCM from your phone. You're lucky to get audio out of your car when you first turn it on. In my PTT, usually the PCM connects after Mr12Volt does so I actually don't get audio out of my system right off the bat because my phone switches to the PCM and stays until I manually switch the audio output back to carplay.

Enjoy!

Thanks Ramen...great explanation! Quick clarification tho...I have the newest version of the Mr12Volt which has factory mic support, therefore, even when I disconnect my bluetooth from the PCM, I still make and receive calls from the factory mic (and speakers) via the Mr12Volt. The only functionality I seem to have lost by disconnecting phone from PCM is the ability to initiate a call (and hangup) via the steering wheel buttons. That said, the way Mr12Volt is set up, when I hit the phone button on the steering wheel, it launches Siri, so I can simply tell Siri who to call.
