Strange Tachometer Behavior
Hi everyone, I recently acquired my first Porsche, a 2021 Panamera base model with about 27k miles. I’m loving the car so far, but I’ve noticed an unusual behavior of the tachometer.
Occasionally, after driving for about 10-15 minutes, I’ve observed that the RPM needle rises in “steps” as I accelerate, similar to how a quartz watch’s second hand moves in discrete ticks instead of smoothly, as in an automatic watch. Conversely, the RPM needle falls smoothly when I release the gas pedal.
Interestingly, the issue appears to resolve itself when I restart the engine completely.
I’m curious to know if anyone else has encountered this problem. If so, how did you manage to resolve it?
I suspect it could be a battery issue since the AGM battery hasn't been changed since the car came off the production line. So I hooked it to a CTEK MXS 5.0, but it skips the first 3 charging stages and reaches full charge in about 5 hours. So maybe not a battery issue?
