Bent Rim
As I noted on another thread, while traveling, I had some code problems and lost power at one point. A couple of grand later, that got fixed. Included a new wiring harness. They found a defect in a tire, and I reluctantly allowed the dealership to replace it. Then they later told me that the rim for that tire was bent. The tire still holds air fine, and I cannot notice a handling difference. A new rim would have cost a mere $3750. Passed on that option. Any words of wisdom as to the rim?
Any good tire shop can check for trueness of the rim, if indeed bent, it can be fixed for a lot less than a new one. If you don’t feel any handling different, no vibration, etc, I suspect that they are pulling your legs.
Cost will vary, but yea like others said it'll be much less than a new wheel. Definitely go get that fixed and keep a record of it if you're still in warranty (just in case you have a suspension issue later and they want to blame it on the bent wheel).
I had an aluminum wheel once that got bent really bad (imagine half a taco shell) and the tire wouldn't hold air for long. Cost a couple hundred to fix. It'll cost more if the bent area is visible from the face and you want the color/finish to match exactly. For me, it was on the opposite side of the face so the shop just sprayed the spot black after fixing it.

Thanks for the feedback. After I balked at a new wheel, the dealer (San Diego Porsche) acknowledged it might be staigtenable (new word), and suggested “Alloy Wheel Repair,” apparently a nationwide chain. In any event, I will look into it (I live near Portland).

Definitely can be repaired, I have repaired many wheels over the years that included Alpina B7 wheels, 335 18” wheels, & Mercedes AMG Wheels, with no problem. Don’t waste your money buying a rim unless it’s completely damaged beyond repair.
