Default 970.2 PDK performance - much improved over 970.1?

I'm considering getting back into a 970 Panny (previously had a 970.1 GTS), I'm wondering if the 970.2 PDK performance is significantly better than the 970.1? My two primary concerns:
  1. Paddle responsiveness - Specifically for upshifts, it felt like the 970.1 took a good second to actually shift after you requested one in manual mode. Even for downshifts, while the blip was immediate, I felt the gear didn't actually engage that quickly.
  2. Overall smoothness - While I understand a DCT won't be as smooth as a torque converter auto, I felt like the 970.1 PDK was a bit too clunky too often.
Ultimately my hope is that the 970.2 has PDK performance similar to a 991.1, whereas the 970.1 was closer to a 997.2. For those with experience with these cars, would you say this is accurate?

Havnt driven the 971 but I will say that around 2018 Audi moved the ECU and TCU and ESC into one central computer which sped up alot of the various parts acting together. I presume a similar change happened in Porsches around the same time.

PDK is just a marketing buzzword btw, it’s like Apple Retina display. Doesn’t really give any information about what transmission (or display resolution) you’re dealing with.
Iirc though the 970 DCT is a 7 speed and the ZF8hp is used for hybrids and the 971 is an 8speed built with hybrid application in mind.

All of this to say, they’re both PDKs but do not actually have anything in common.
