970 for the diyer?
As the pump is driven off the cam, clean oil seems to extend their life and issues with plastic cam cap - again, just my working theory.
Mileage varies, but tend to see these have issues starting around 70K miles, but have also read about those failures with half that mileage. Personally, i believe tier 1 gas and frequent oil changes extends the life...

Also, is anyone just replacing the plastic cap as preventative maintenance?

Does anyone know how wide a 970.1 is across the rear seats? From the pass armrest to the drive arm rest. I have a kid who plays the cello.

The more I read about potential issues on PTT, the more I get discouraged to buy this car. It definitely has alot more of things that can go wrong more than what I wanted to hear.
I had an e90 M3 and it seems it is a bulletproof (with little to none reliability issues I had ) compared to a PTT.
Now I see the reason why PTT with close to 100k miles are sitting for months not getting sold even at cheap price. This is definitely buy at your own risk. It is sad that 911 is not built with same quality and engineering as Panamera is

Probably Panamera Twin Turbo.
I daily drive my high mileage turbo S. They are pretty complex cars so stuff does happen (air ride, bushing, etc) but I don't ride around with any more fear than I did with my E92. I mean it had to have throttle actuators, are known for needing rod bearings, vanos, etc. Stuff is pretty pricing for either car. I just consider it part of driving a complex european high mileage absolutely incredible vehicle for not too much money.

I do agree this is part of owning a high mileage complex system and that's why they are sold relatively cheap in used market compared to their MSRP. My worrisome is ending up spending time on fixing it rather than driving it
I maintain all my Porsches, not hard, just parts can be a bit more expensive.
There’s a thread in the 996 page about getting a PIWIS III for less than $75 IIRC, that tool is well worth the price of entry. Reset your oil service reminder twice and it’s basically paid for!

To put in perspective....
Who has the highest mileage on a Panamera? post #86
Not many, but several 1st gen around 100k miles, some at 150k-160k....but post #86 with 216k and then updated to 254k on post #127

Also, I've searched Panamera sales listing and sorted by highest mileage first....several sitting at 160k-170k. Gives you a general idea, and seems like they are more than capable of reaching those high miles.
Someone mentioned in that thread that Panameras are not driven as often, but I think initially the intent was there. I'm guilty of this myself. I bought the car with every intention of using it as my daily and the practicality that I assumed it was, but for some reason didn't feel the practicality. Instead, I found the car more than amazing, special, etc., but not to mention mpg was not all that great for a daily however...I ended up pampering it instead and not driving it as often as I should. Just me I suppose, I can't speak for the others.

Looks like it's the Sport Chrono package, PDCC/PTV, and the Sports Exhaust bundled together.
