Default 2014 E-Hybrid Timing Chain

Dealer has quoted 30+ hours to replace. This seems insane, unless it’s an engine-out job?

Has anyone here done this before?

Have you seen this video? Not a hybrid but likely very similar.

Yup, saw that video — chain was done in-place.

Only thing I can think of is that the e-Hybrid has a different engine (it’s a 3L 90-degree V6) and the addition of the e-motor might move the engine forwards…

On that vehicle it is engine out. The hybrids of that generation still used the 3.0 Audi-based supercharged V6, which means the chains are in the back. The two major issues with those engines require engine-out: Secondary-air bore cleaning and timing chains. I have done many in my career, those videos are for the non-hybrid Porsche engines, the 3.6 & 4.8 versions up until the 971 came out. I have done a few of those as well. Their quote is not too outside of the realm of "normal" for those engines, but I would ask around if you have other options.

Yikes, thanks for sharing your experience @Porschetuner2005 . Appreciated 🙏

The dealer has been unable to diagnose a CEL and has recommended engine-out (and back in again) to inspect the timing chain and timing chain guides as the next step. I'm going off a phone call at the moment ... still waiting on an email report from the dealer, which I think will provide more clarity. Following your advice (and the arrival of the email) I think I'll ask around a few independents.
