Default Normal operating temperature?

I’ve had my 970 Panamera 3.6 for years now, just surpassed the 10 year mark and my typical operating temperature would range between 210-217, occasionally hitting 219 but doesn’t last at that temperature. It’s been like this since taking delivery but recently when I went in to get an oil change done (I normally do it myself but my back isn’t in the same
shape as it used to be), the mechanic told me the temp is running higher than it should. This is not a mechanic I know very well, just someone that was referred to me. Thought I’d ask the other owners here to see if the guy is just talking nonsense or something I need to look into.

I assume this is oil temperature? If so, perfectly normal.

Ha be a 10 yo v8. The oil temp moves around in the teens but the coolant temp stays at 200f after warm up. I’ve been told they program it to stay constant so the owners don’t get concerned . Coolant temperature is BS reading

Ah yes, it is the oil temperature. Thanks H2Owon.

justabout, yeah the coolant temp has been at 200 after warming for as long as I can remember. Didn't think that was accurate but hey, never overheated so that's all that mattered to me.

There's a software smoothing to the temperature gauge. 971s will show 194 degrees from about 180-215. That also why you'll see people who are actually running hot say their temperature suddenly jumped 25 degrees. You can adjust the smoothing out if you have a PIWIS. There's a thread on the 991 forum that shows the adjustment to make it read true. When I first got my car I thought Porsche had done a fabulous job of thermal management to keep the temperature dead on at 194. After a few days I decided that wasn't possible.

Interesting, don't have a PIWIS, should pick one up. I think I have a Durametric lying around somewhere that I haven't used for a while but not sure if it has the same capability that you mentioned.

Yea they dummy it down. Porsche's version of an idiot light. Not the first choice for most enthusiasts that are driving their cars.
