Brake pads warning - 2014 Panamera Turbo
Yesterday, I got the "Brake pad worn" warning on my dashboard. I got it while I was driving in the morning. Then I parked at the office for a couple of hours. I haven't got the warning again yet when I was driving back home yesterday or today.
My question is: Could that warning be because of a sensor fault? Or something else? Because if the pads are really worn out, I would expect the warning to come back up.

It might be a situation where the sensor wire is worn just enough to start an intermittent short, but hasn't fully broken the connection yet to where the warning light stays on.
Unless the pads were recently done, sounds like its close enough to where they need to be replaced.

Thanks a lot everyone. I really appreciate each of these responses.
I'm going to check the sensor wire, but it looks like I'm going to have to change the pads. It wasn't immediately due now. But I guess it is time.

My porsche dealer told me 2 years ago we were going to need brakes "soon"...my brake light came on in January of this year. I replaced them in March...so we got over 1500 miles out of them after the light came on. Granted, I should have replaced them before, but a non heated garage in 20 degree weather prevented me from doing it sooner. You have longer than you think, but I would at least take a measurement. Also depends how you drive...

I replaced my front and rear brakes and didn’t even bother to put new warning sensors in. I just crimped them together and the warning went away. I’m old school and I just shine a flashlight to check the brake pad linings every few months.
