I'm a financially illiterate and recently had a child. (redundant I know) so the 986 Boxster S is even less practical than it had been. I'm looking at a 2011 Panamera Turbo and cant find any information on the option code X80 for the Power Package the one I'm looking at was equipped with.
Was it really pay Porsche 20K dollars for 40ish more HP? There were no mechanical changes subtle upgrades to cooling or turbos or anything? - Just drop the cash and we'll program it with a little different tune?
Also It was equipped with PCCB and the rears are about ready to be replaced. If i swap to Irons in the rear will I need PIWIS or some knockoff to make that switch?
The PCCB brakes feel, grab, and wear very differently from steel. If you switch to steel, you want to change all 4 wheels to maintain your proper brake bias. Unless your car had repeated high temperature brake use, PCCBs should last a very long time. Have you checked the discs with the proper PCCB wear tool to confirm the discs need replacement? There is a company that can re-manufacture the PCCB discs for far less money than replacing them.
I have not checked them, I'm going off what the seller has told me 5% remaining on the rears and 70% on the front. vehicle has 99k - I would totally get them remanufactured if it was 3.5k or less do you have any links to who is doing that? I have been researching like a crackhead the last few days and haven't seen anyone offering that service.. I like the idea of keeping them with PCCB but am not going to shell out 5k for used parts and 10-15k for new.
I was not aware their was a specific tool for PCCB I'll look into that. Thank you!
