Default 971 Turbo PDK issue?

Hi guys,
I will be taking my car to the dealer as it has CPO on it. Has anyone had any issues with the PDK in this car. Searching doesn't bring up much.
My issue is in 6th or 7th gear normal driving not in any sport mode, I will get a shudder on light throttle around 1000-1200 rpm. this happens more when its cold out. Sometimes the intensity varies. Its like a clutch chatter is the feeling. Its almost like if your in a manual car and in the wrong gear with the rpm's to low. It doesn't shake the car but its a noticeable and feelable vibration.
It won't do it when its in sport or sport plus mode.

It's possible that it's not pdk problem. You can test with piwis if you have fault code. It's possible that it's coil problem.

I had a violent clunking when on and off the throttle in second gear in a 2018 panamera turbo with cpo. Dealer just replaced the transmission.

Haha yea. If the problem is internal the dealer won’t repair the transmission. They will just replace it. Kinda scary, hopefully everything gets put back right. I get the car back tomorrow.

I don't have any fault codes in the ECM or the TCM. No faults for misfire either.

No violent clunking. its a vibration that you can feel when it happens. Its not audible enough for a video or i would post that as well.

So I had to go to the dealer and drive the car to replicate it for them. They were unable to replicate the issue.
They called me today and are trying to tell me a fluid change will fix the issue. I'm a little skeptic on that due to the fluid is only half way though its life span. I have seen fluid changes fix issues before just skeptic at the cost vs it not fixing it.

I may be having the same issue with my 2017 Turbo...clutch chatter is a good way of putting it. Almost like it's struggling to engage, although there is still forward motion. Always at very lows revs, at very light throttle (almost coasting). In my case it happens in any gear, light touch on the go pedal and I hear and feel it, firmer press until the car downshifts then all is well. Doesn't matter if the car/transmission is warm or cold, but notable that it's only when I'm in Normal mode (I tend to stay in Sport).

Dealer said they "heard" something but couldn't pinpoint the issue. Apparently I had an outstanding software update, so they tried that first with no luck. Going to have them look at it again at my next service visit.

I did have a separate instance of the car popping out of gear under sudden hard acceleration, so I'm thinking the transmission in general may not have long, especially given the car has 90K on it. Car is CPO so if indeed it fails it should be replaced.

Will be interesting to hear if a fluid change fixed the issue.

Yea sounds like the same issue as mine. I got it to really happen in 5th gear while I was replicating it for them. Mine generally was in 7th gear around 40-45mph. Mine is a 2018 ST Turbo. I am very hesitant of the fluid change fixing the issue. I would of at least liked that they would of called Porsche Tech support before guessing that this will fix it. They ordered the parts to do the service and will hopefully do it tomorrow. I won't know anything until Thursday or Friday if it actually fixed it. As the issue only crops up when the car is warming up from a cold start. Once the car is at normal operating temp the issue is not really there.
We will see what happens.

Dealership did the fluid change. They drove it the first day after and said no issues. I told them to keep it over the weekend and drive it again. They drove it this morning and the problem is still there. They are calling Porsche Tech Support to see what to do now. I think they just need to replace the transmission since they do not service them.

Update today. The dealer is telling me this is normal. I'm pretty skeptical about this being how bad the vibration/ shudder gets at times. They said they compared it to another Turbo and felt the same thing. I'm pretty sure that Porsche doesn't consider this harsh of a shudder normal. I asked them if they have called tech support number and they haven't. I'm just worried about something happening after the cpo expires.

Update. They said they heard back from Porsche Tech Support and they said nothing to repair. I find this hard to believe. We will see. I will probably look for a PDK tune. I have read it really makes a difference for others.

Dont have a V8T, just a 4S 2.9T, and cant speak to the "chatter" but can confidently say the TCU tune made the vehicle much more enjoyable to drive and got rid of the stock quirks. Something to think about when the CPO warranty expires...
