Instrument cluster coding with PIWIS3
Hi, I have a 970.2 4S and I replaced the steering wheel to the 971 type using GPS adapter.
I love the look but quickly realized that I now cannot tell whether I am in sport mode, sport plus mode, or normal mode on the steering wheel anymore.
I found 991 and 981 threads where they code the display of the “sport” or “sport plus” from steering wheel to the instrument cluster vice versa.
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1237...-retrofit.html
I followed their instructions and tried to do it on my Panamera but the options were not the same.
Has anybody done this before? Also, can I add the steering wheel multifunction key option to include sport mode so I wouldn’t have to look down to press the “sport” on the center console?
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

This is for a 911 but might work. You need to get into the Kombiinstrument and find where it says something about display sport mode and display sport / sport plus.

Anyone able to share a pic of what it looks like in the combimeter for Sport or Sport Plus display?

Thanks!
That looks nice, I wonder why they don't enable it by default. I know what I'm trying to do this weekend.

I’m also currently troubleshooting something else, specifically making the steering wheel diamond button to operate sport mode. I was able to enable the option using PIWIS, but for some reason, anything under the “vehicle operation” for the diamond “joker” key does not work, even the start/stop function. I can only activate them using the button on the console

I have the sport wheel in my 970, so I do have the Sport or Sport Plus illuminated there - don't have to look at the center console in my car fortunately. I agree that's annoying.
But honestly I don't like it there, it's in an odd (to me) place, and the thing that really bugs me (yes, I know this is WAY ****-retentive) is that it does not dim with the rest of the cabin lights. So when I dim cabin lights, there is this giant bright SPORT!!! glaring in my face lol. I'd really like to have the notification in the combimeter where it can be dimmed with the gauges instead.
(I'd use some 3M film to cover the indicator on the steering wheel, you'd never see the film and never know it was there.)
