Anyone know this Sapphire Blue 2015 GTS from Fort Meyers FL?
This is a long shot but I’m going to see if the Rennlist community has any connection to this 2015 GTS. Based on the CarFax this is a one owner car that was serviced by Porsche of Fort Meyers, FL almost exclusively. The spec is what I am looking for, miles are fine at 40K. CarFax is clean. But the dealership where this is being sold, Autopia in Union NJ, has the WORST reviews (Yelp, Google) that I have ever seen. Abysmal. Many of those reviews note that the cars often have hidden damage and other problems. I noted the carfax is clean, but it’s pretty weird - the car was serviced at a Factory Dealer all its existence with one owner then it suddenly shows as “online sale” for one day and then this shady place has it for sale. Huh??
Presents fine in the pics but there are no underbody images…. Flood damaged car that got fixed off the books? Major collision that got repaired off the books? IDK but it seems there is a story here and I am trying to find out what it is before attempting any further negotiation on this. My initial interaction with them so far mirrors the reviews I read - total lack of follow up and an emphasis on “how I am going to pay for it” - very very sketchy.
Love the car if all is true, price is a bit high. I’m looking for a 2014-2016 970.2 GTS or Turbo in a fun color under $45K with miles under 60K, and this fits the bill. But not if the dealer adds a $3K “preparation fee” (again, the reviews are just scathing).

There was a Hurricane in 2022 in north Fort Mayers but car was serviced in Estero which is south and did ok during the Hurricane.
since you like it, call them, ask to FaceTime with car, then schedule inspection, fly there and pick up in person. The $1000 will be worth your peace of mind.

Thanks for your replies. I’m about an hour away by car so plane tickets aren’t required. What I was hoping to discover was if anyone in the community knew this car and its history. So far that doesn’t seem to be the case, although good to know that the last hurricane in Fort Meyers was the horrible one in 2022. The other factor is the horrible dealership but I can manage that situation - risk is it just might end up as a big waste of time.

Make sure it's throughly inspected before putting any money 💰 on it. We took possession of our 11' with 200 miles or 10 days. During that time period we could return it no questions.

@gersar928 I couldn't agree more. I can do the inspection, as I am a independent p-car mechanic. My aim with this post was to see if anyone knew the car - if it had a clean bill of health from the previous owner that would be a home run. Without that, trying to engage this dealership any further is probably not worth the time - I can't figure out how they got this car and how it fits into the "problem child" cars they are known for selling. Flood damage or a collision repair that is off the books is what I suspect. When I show up with a paint meter and floor jack, the likely response will be a request to vacate the premises. It's a shame since this spec is what I am looking for.

Too many red flags from your description of the dealer. There are other fish in the sea, go find and catch one of those.

Greed in the car market is at an outrageous level. They offer 30% under value on trades and then charge these ridiculous fees to sell the very car. Let's not even get into dealer mark ups. It will never stop though as it is now how they do business.
Good luck in your search.

I really got my eyes opened on these practices during this search. It was very sad to see this is how a large subset of car dealers operate now. I've bought many cars from factory dealers, independents and private sellers. But these attempts to fleece buyers are just unconscionable.
