Hi
Just found the right marker light is broken today. So I remove it, found some trace of short circuit(might be some water get into it?).
So can I just buy one like below and replace it or I need some kind of electrical check before installing new one?

You can just install a new one. I would check the connector to make sure its ok and the terminals are not damaged. Looks like it got really hot. If your going to question it, replace the connector with a pigtail. you will have to call a dealer to get the part. They should offer terminals or a pigtail harness to fix it.

The situation is worse than I thought.
So how should I change this pig tail? Looks like I need to go under the car/remove bumper to change this cable?

Or I can just left the light dark, if the marker light is not required by the law?( I think it passed inspection)

looks like it needs tons of work to get it replaced

Thats the entire harness for the marker light and other things in the bumper. you just need to replace the one connector. you can replace the entire harness if you like. you should be able to access it by removing the inner fender lining on the bumper side of the wheel well. You just need to cut off the harness and either crimp on or solder in the new pigtail. If you can pull the harness out of the hole there enough you can replace it without having to remove anything, I'm not sure how much give there is to do that there from a picture.

Call the dealer and tell them what you have and ask if they sell you a pigtail connector for the marker light. you will need your vin and make sure to tell them what side.

The marker light should be required by law. It's just how pickey your inspector was that inspected it.

I just did the same thing... located the pigtail on Amazon. It lists it as a GM part, but same.

Another question, massachusetts law requires marker light to be amber.
Does that mean the color of light or it include the lamp itself?
I can only find tinted or clear lamp, although their light is amber.

asked on quora and ppl says "So long as the visible light is amber, it is legal. You’ll probably note, many new cars have clear or white lenses but amber bulbs behind them."

It can be clear or white... It just has to blink amber.

Or this is the bumper light? It can be anything. Some people even code them off.

You found the clear ones on Amazon because many many people hate/swap the factory amber for clear. If you want an amber one, I bet half the forum has one in their garage. But for looks, use the clear.
